Orillia, ON (Dec. 27, 2023) – After months of construction, the newly renovated Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre is now open to the public for adoptions and rehoming requests. The upgrades to the animal centre will help the Ontario SPCA strengthen and grow its animal welfare and community support services offered in Orillia.
The animal centre has been temporarily closed to the public since September while it underwent renovations to better meet the needs of the community. During that time, animals awaiting adoption were relocated to foster homes and Ontario SPCA animal centres in neighbouring communities. Stray animals brought to the animal centre were housed in a temporary facility before being transferred to neighbouring Ontario SPCA animal centres.
The new upgrades to the animal centre, located at 467 West St. N in Orillia, include:
New flooring throughout the Centre
New cat rooms
New sunrooms for the cats
Updated dog rooms, including new doors
Updated laundry room and washrooms
Updated animal isolation rooms and intake rooms
A fresh coat of paint throughout the centre
“We are so excited to welcome the public into our newly renovated centre, which was designed with the health and comfort of our animal friends in mind,” says Carol Beard, Manager, Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre. “As the needs of the community grow, we want to be ready to support the animals and the people who love them. We look forward to continuing to serve the Orillia community.”
A public open house will be held in the spring to showcase and celebrate the updated facility. To learn more about the Ontario SPCA Orillia Animal Centre, or to make a donation to help support these improvements for the community, visit ontariospca.ca/orillia
